Load_Cycle_Count
Bei WD Festplatten gibt es ein Problem, dass unter Linux der Load_Cycle_Count zu schnell hochgeht.
Der Wert soll nicht über 300k gehen – Wobei WD sagt, dass 1M auch noch OK sind.
Ich habe bei diesen Platten den Timer erst recht spät deaktiviert – die Werte stehen aber jetzt seit über einem Jahr so:

Ocsp Responder Caching
Dreht man einen Microsoft OCSP Responder ab, schlägt das Monitoring darauf nicht an. Warum?
Weil die OCSP Responses vom IIS gecached werden und zwar für so lange wie auch die CRL noch gültig wäre!
Response caching. After a request is received and a certificate serial number is extracted, the Online Responder Web proxy will check the local cache for a valid response. The cache is implemented as part of the ISAPI extension and is an in-memory cache. If a client request generates a cache fault, the Online Responder Web proxy will make a request to the Online Responder service for a response. The cache item validity period is set to the CRL validity period from which the response was generated or to the signing key validity, whichever is shorter.
Zusätzlich wird noch für 120 Sekunden gecached.
In addition to the OCSP ISAPI extension caching, the IIS HTTP.SYS library performs caching for 120 seconds. Multiple requests to the Online Responder in that time period will be served with the HTTP.SYS-cached response.

Haltbarkeit von Festplatten
Ich sag es ja schon länger, bei ein paar Hundert Festplatten ist damit zu rechnen, dass im Schnitt eine pro Monat ausfällt. Jetzt bin ich über eine alte Notiz von mir gestoßen:
Carnegie Mellon University published a study in 2007 on hard drive failure rates. They found that hard drives fail at about 3 percent per year. Further more, they found that drive type and interface contributed little to disk longevity, and that hard drives do not reflect a tendency to fail early as was commonly accepted. These findings were largel corroborated by a parallel study released the same year by Google.
Das würde heißen, bei 400 Platten wären wir schon bei einer pro Monat. Wenn man Glück hat und die so Gleichmäßig verteilt sind.
